Asked to write a case study (along with a solution showing data programs used) for an interview. I’ve only ever been asked to solve a case study. Anyone know how I should start?

Then start by solving the case study. Once you solve it, write the questions that you answered.

Use a previous project

I would identify an interesting data set and questions you could ask using it. Then design case questions.
For example there’s a lot of data available about covid by age, zip code, gender, outcome, etc. write something about trends in cases, predicting next hot spot, estimating vaccine impacts on spread, etc.

Dumb question but if I was also asked to show my technical skills, what should the focus be? Metrics or the work done in the program (i.e. powerbi, excel)? I think this project case study is meant to be on a smaller scale, not anything big like a marketing campaign.

Considering a move in-house to NBC Universal in any litigation role (though I’d really go to wherever there is a need, whether litigation or business affairs generally). Coming from 4th year law firm litigation experience in a variety of areas but mostly data breach, e-discovery, breach of K. Do I apply with an employee referral or via LinkedIn recruiter that reached out? Alternatively, if anyone has experience applying/at NBCU, I’d so appreciate general advice :) TIA.

I was just informed after the third round of interviews they’d like at least 5 references, two must be supervisors. My last job was a temporary remote job where I didn’t really interact with my supervisor and the jobs before that were at my family’s business (I do not speak to any of them for serious personal reasons.) Anything before that was grad school and I haven’t kept in contact with any professors from over five years ago. What should I do? 😕

If you see an open job posting at a company you want to work for, what steps do you take to apply? I’ve been told that cold applying and making no contacts is usually not going to lead to anything, and that’s been true in my experience. But should I reach out to someone first? Should i apply and then email someone? In HR? Or someone who’d be directly supervising me? Or someone at my level? And what should i say? Thanks!

Reached theoretical financial freedom (4% of networth covers 120% of my yearly spending)
What should I do?
-Motivation to grind at BCG is not here anymore and honestly the experience here was underwhelming (~1y as a C, lateralled from other firm)
-Still too risky to open own lifestyle business
-Option to exit to industry for a few years at a 9-6 job?
-Option to do some side hustles?

Anything I should consider when making my decision? Any risks I haven't foreseen?

Thanks!

Hi all!
Would love some insight on how you went from an HR assistant/coordinator to an HR Generalist. I’ve been in the HR world for 8 years, and only in the last 2-3 have I really done real HR work. The first company I was at didn’t have a solid HR team so I don’t really count that. I feel like I’m ready to take on more responsibility and learn more. And of course make more money.

I have looked into getting SHRM certification. But should I go back to school and get my masters in Hr?

It’s hard to be motivated when rounds of layoffs happen and you see all your friends leave. But one thing that’s gotten me through all of this is working out. And when I say workout I mean the most pathetic, sad, barely completed beginner-level cardio dance routines.
