Most mid-senior level industry jobs pay around $150k, and offer a good level of job stability. Can your parent make more money? Sure they can, but will they trade comp against stability and age bias? Absolutely. All that glitters is not always gold 😉
Nah that sounds about right, maybe TC should be closer to $200k? Pay in industry isn't really as great as a lot of people here think it is.

It’s soooo industry dependent, it’s hard to say.
If the MBA is from a strong school, underpaid though.
I was in industry with a similar profile: 15 yoe, mba, Pmp, computer science background. Was a director making 140k left at TC 190k. Assoc director at 130-150 makes sense in industry.
I left because the only way up was if someone retired. 2 years later my TC in consulting is 315k. But I work a lot more now- considering exiting to industry in a few years so I can turn off work before 9pm.
Personally yes I think that's low, I'm at 144k doing IT Risk in industry at 4 yoe. Cpa + masters.
Industry here means a non consulting, non public accounting, etc firm.
Example:
PwC is a big 4 accounting firm which also has consulting etc.
Amazon is a publicly traded company that sells things to customers.
Amazon = industry.
Been in industry for 1 yr with no MBA or PMP and TC of 180K in Dallas with 8 yrs exp so I think they are probably underpaid. Hell I think I am underpaid...
I’m and Ops manager in industry making about that - id shoot for closer to 200K TC as well
Racism and ageism are hard to fight as an immigrant
Folks need to stop assuming something like racism is at play. It’s really watered down real racism. Plenty of people are under paid for a number of reasons and this individual may not even be under paid as many have alluded
It depends on what industry. I have a friend in big pharma that’s a AD and makes $235 in a program director role
