First off, congrats for having a goal and working to achieve it.
Now you’ve got to stand out….again.
Need to have your technicals down.
Networking is important. The banks with the good placement from your program is the most obvious place to start. Begin convos with those people now. Make a trip or two to NYC over summer weekends and meet those people.
The banks will be proactive about things.
The classes, both summer and full time, have been smaller the last recruiting year. The intern classes this cycle should be a little bigger this year as the banks gain some confidence.
RX groups will continue to be busy and the hot spot - those banks with strong groups will be the hot ticket.
Thank you for your response.
The school I’ll be attending is Wharton which thankfully has a pretty structured IB recruiting process. Is it worth networking early outside of that process? Or should I simply begin working on technicals to have a leg up on that?
Edit: Can anyone speak to healthcare IB at this time?
Healthcare is about 40% of the RX work right now.
And reach out to the guys now so when they show up on campus for events you (hopefully) have a rapport with them already.
Much appreciated.
Just don’t lol.
On a serious note, i’d try to talk to people who you networked with in the application process to get a feel for how your finance club does things. Most schools don’t want incoming students reaching out to bankers before getting to campus. Sounds like a great idea until you shoot yourself in the foot and say/do something wrong. Every year there’s a bunch of eager kids thinking they can get a leg up trying to talk to bankers early… doesn’t work. Leverage your personal IB network if you have one, otherwise be patient.
Lastly, Healthcare IB is busy.
Feel free to PM if you wanna talk more.
