Try to get up from your desk more often. My backache turned into a 12-week sciatica flare up because of stress and sitting too much.
I’m a back and side sleeper as well - fall asleep on back, wake up on side 🤷🏻♂️
I got a spring because it’s cooler - also sleep very warm, would prefer mattress stays reliably cool. Also prefer slightly more firm.
I did lots of research and set a budget for about $800-1200 and ended up with a Saatva, and am very happy with it. Higher end range of quality, sleeps super well, and gotten good remarks from others. Customer service is also superb if you feel buyers remorse.
Feel free to DM me on it if you’ve got more questions.

I second this. I ended up with an Airloom mattress but I've heard a lot of great things about the Saatva
I bought a purple chair cushion for working and it's life changing.
I really like Casper. I bought one at Costco.
Purple!!!!!! Also core exercise. Equal importance.

Memory foam does sleep hotter, but they've had some really big improvements. Go to a mattress store and tell them you're concerned about temperature, let them recommend some models with gel and other temp controlling features. I'm horribly hot natured and I found a Sealy memory foam that's more than bearable temperature wise and is heaven for my back. Your sheets and comforter will also matter in terms of temperature. Spend the money, it's worth it.
Also in the market for a new mattress. Anyone have thoughts on purple? I’ve heard great things

Hybrid foam and coil mattress from Beautyrest is the way to go. Expensive, but worth it

I have a Stearns & Foster mattress from Macy’s (Garrick model “luxury cushion firm”). Absolutely love it, so comfortable
Saatva is great

I just got a purple last month from an old spring mattress. Also had a sore back and this fixed it. You can literally feel the airflow because of all the holes. There's no way memory foam can be cooler.
Foam rolling my back at the end of the day has helped me a lot.
