Hi Fishes,
I have 7.3 YOE and my Tech Stark is SAP UI5/ Fiori Developer.
I currently have 2 offers in hand, one from Sopra Steria, Technical Lead 2B - CTC 18.6 LPA which is completely fixed and the other offer is from Capgemini, Manager C2- CTC 18 LPA(Variable 10%) and joining bonus 50k.
Please help me by suggesting which one I can go forward with.
Thanks !!

Can't comment on the politics but ECT is a non-partner track so the chance of becoming partner is 0% without a major role change.
^ that’s not exactly true. The original ECT pioneer was just promoted from Director to Partner. That said, expectation for ECT track is that it doesn’t lead to partner. Honestly, the model is still too immature to say (though there is a lot of energy around developing/expanding it).
Very few. That would be an exceptional career path, not the normal one.
On dynamics:
I have worked with homegrown ECTers and lateral ECTers. Within each of those 2 categories, the perception is there are 2 main types.
For homegrown, the majority proactively made the switch (to specialize deeply or to focus on delivery rather than selling). Others seem like they may have landed there when runway in the generalist track evaporated.
For laterals, some ECTers are pure SMEs with fractional billability across multiple projects. Others can run a case/team independently. The latter model seems less stressful/creates more staffing options
Just my .02
Agree, but I think coming in with this expectation is a recipe for frustration. Gun for the role you actually want
Probably. It’s still uncommon to have industry-practice aligned ECTs. Much more likely in functional practices. Principal is a title on both tracks though, and phrasing as you did “IGPA Principal” is a little strange for a generalist. Normally, we’d just say “Principal who spends most of their time in IG."
What is ECT Tech Advantage?
ECTs are great track but rarely if ever make partner
Sorry I should’ve been clearer. How many people enter on expert track and successfully switch to generalist later? Eg as a PL.
Usually it’s the other way around, tbh experts could probably switch to principle is they wanted to and/or they can sell stuff but no expert would ever do that
I’ve seen experts switch to generalist - just need to show you can sell and it’s pretty feasible
Don’t mean to hijack the thread, but would an industrial goods practice Principal be on a partner track? Just wondering about a recent career switch an acquaintance made.
Many thanks.
