BDO folks - how much do you work on average during busy season? I had a recruiter from BDO call me and say it’s 55 on average this time of year. Then went into how they know well in advance before someone’s going to burn out and make sure they take time off so they don’t burn out. Sounds like a sales pitch to me, but overall super curious.

I have tried absolutely everything I can think of to limit distractions during the work day and none of it has worked. Working from home has only made it 100 times worse because now I know there are other more interesting things to be distracted by all around me. What do you do to hold focus during working hours? What will get me to be able to work for longer than 35 minutes without getting distracted?

I’m at a mid size transactional firm. I’m a total night owl and my partners have OK’d me starting the workday at around 11am because I regularly work until midnight or later. I get so much more done after dark! I still get some side eye from other associates, but 🤷🏽‍♀️

A recruiter I’ve worked with in the past reached out to me gauging my interest in a Director role. While I meet the role requirements for the most part, I’m not sure that I’m prepared to move to the next level as it would certainly put me outside of my comfort zone. At the same time. I also have young kids and I want to find a good work/life balance, but my current job environment seems a bit unsteady and I don’t have great balance there either. Got my MBB offer as an Exp Hire! A few insights from my case prep. I practiced ~10 cases solo using Case Coach videos. I'd watch the interviewer speak, pause the video, practice (speak out loud, ask questions, explain my approach, even time myself), then play to see what the candidate did, and evaluate myself for gaps.

I also learned the evaluation criteria and internalized the generic case frameworks.
