Been seeing more and more prople just ststing tgeir annuslbannual leave rather than requesting dsys off. Navigating leave requests with professionalism while maintaining autonomy is challenging. Do blunt, direct emails about time off create clarity, or do they risk sounding unprofessional?

I think that it's both, you will provide clarity on your request but if you make it sound like a statement rather than a request that may be unprofessional.
I guess this is subjective, but I think that it's inconsiderate and inaccurate to state as a claim rather than a request.

Absolutely agree! Tone matters

Interesting question. I think it depends on the role and work culture.

What do you mean when you say blunt emails about time off? Who is doing the emailing and who are they sending the email to? I am a little confused.

Any F 🐥/🐠 from San Jose here? 👋

My natural instinct is to assume rejection if I have conflict with a partner or don’t think my feelings are reciprocated. I’ll try to bring it up with them, but I’ll say “if you want to end this feel free” so it doesn’t hurt me (and they can say what they really mean instead of sugarcoating). Someone told me today that they just assume I’m not interested because I always seem to “run” but I’m not sure how to bring up problems/feelings otherwise. How do you approach these hard questions?

TRUTH OR MYTH? Agencies don’t always post their available roles. Sometimes they fill up roles with referrals from company employees.

Has anyone left healthcare and is now really happy? I’m an MSN, RN with 12 years hospital experience. I’m burned out and tired of making crap pay. I have an opportunity outside of healthcare that would pay more and challenge me in new ways that I haven’t experienced before. It’s a total shift that would really heal my work-life balance, job satisfaction and budget. My only fear is that I would not be using the license and degree that I worked so hard for. I would appreciate any input!!!!

HR opinion: Do I have any leverage as a hospital nurse case manager in negotiating earned time? I have 15 years within the organization, left for 10 months to be remote during the pandemic while sorting out childcare as immunocompromised family helped. I thought I’d have the upper hand with the nursing shortage but I’m getting the “rules are rules” response. Help!?!

So I had been working as medical interpreter up to the early part of this year. Today, during an interview, the Director with whom I was interviewing genuinely urged me to consider pursuing a career as a PA or even attempt to go to medical school. I had considered it in passing before but today was about the third or fourth time that someone had earnestly nudged me in that direction. Has anyone here made such a career pivot before? I love working in healthcare, there’s nothing like it.
