Strategy or Tech?

Service design seems a popular role in consulting in the past year or so, certainly seeing more grads go down this route. Is there much overlap with business analysis? When I’ve worked with service designers the output seems to be another version of a process map, are there other skills and experience needed? I’m wondering how easy a move would be from business analysis to service design...

Anyone from a major holding company (wpp, omd…etc) who made the move to consulting care to answer some questions I have ? TIA!
