Best way to put in your two weeks when you’re remote? My team will be fairly surprised, as I really didn’t drop any hints. So, any advice on how to do so with the least amount of awkwardness/sourness would be greatly appreciated.

Definitely give a phone call to your direct reports. It’s going to be awkward but it’ll be over before you know it. Then follow up with formal email resignation & letting HR know. Congrats on the new gig!

Straightforward is the way to go. The less dithering the better.

Depends, do whatever is comfortable first. Keep it short and brief, no need to feel bad.
If you’re already anxious, you can do an email and include an opportunity to chat.
“Hey (name), I just wanted to let you know that my last day is (date). I was offered an opportunity that felt better aligned with my goals. I would love to schedule some time to chat about this before any formal announcement, will (date) work?

Avoid the awkward phone call and set intentions for the call all at the same time.

like

Schedule a zoom called “catch up” with your boss. Tell them you weren’t looking but got an unsolicited offer and it’s a great opportunity. Thank them for everything and inform them your last day is in 2 weeks.

Hi fishes,

I just got an offer from Morgan Stanley. The offer is indeed handsome and provides other benefits as well. The problem is I just relocated to Pune for my wife's work, we have set up our house here and now if I accept offer I again have to relocate to Bangalore because they aren't offering WFH. What should I do? I know Morgan Stanley is a very reputed firm and might make an enormous impact in my technical growth, but is it worth taking the pain of relocation again?? I am confused.

Change of industry from restaurant to CPG. Thoughts?

I'm a third year plaintiff's employment law attorney and I'm looking to move to defense, preferably still in employment law. I received an offer from a midsize firm that primarily focuses on PI with little-to-no employment law practice, so I'll have a bit of a learning curve. Offer is $90k, billable hours of 2100. Is this reasonable? I'm dead-set on leaving my current job, and this would be a $20k pay increase - which makes me believe I'm leaning towards taking it for those reasons only.
