I have been reading a few articles talking about how FAANG isn’t as lavish as it used to be. My first question is if that is true? But what is less certain is whether the ‘Partner-Staff’ model itself will survive the scrutiny and demands of an increasingly egalitarian and inclusive work culture — can you truly be those things when some people own the firm and others don’t? (vs. all being employees albeit with different roles and comp). The Partnership model - esp at scale - may become an anachronism which makes this whole pension point moot. I’m of the view that it is not worth banking on. Earn the income, save and invest. Pension is like the lottery.
