Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

With dynamic pricing, it’s hard to compare. I think the research you’ve done is fair enough and if you think it’s worth redeeming, you should go ahead! I found that it’s especially worth it for flights at the last minute or if you anticipate changing the dates/ times
There’s still value to be found, and I’ve actually liked the switch to dynamic pricing in some regards. It means that there’s always a viable option with points even if it’s not the best value.
In terms of finding good value, the best areas are domestic flight on routes with low competition (where revenue tickets are expensive because the airline has pricing power) and long-haul partner flights, especially in F/J. I frequently can get 3-8 cents per point in value for these flights, but it required a decent amount of flexibility in travel plans.
Always burn your points over cash
1. You can buy anything with cash. 2. Points lose value over time
