I don’t think they should be separate layers? What’s an example of a “trait that is most true to the brand” that wouldn’t impact how the brand behaves?
Idk about that. The way I see it is a trait/attribute is a feature of a brand vs principle is how it wants to act in the world. In pharma a brand can have a higher magnitude of efficacy (brand attribute) but the principle is that it tirelessly works to help those achieve the best outcome possible. (Not strong but hopefully you get the gist). One is a feature or something that is a part of the brand the other is how it utilizes that to act.
LOL do you work at jkrrrrrrrrr

This is really helpful and validating as I’ve also seen attributes mean a wide variety of things. Thanks!
Semantics maybe, but I typically think of brand “attributes” as imagery. That’s how you want to be seen or perceived. (Leader, trusted, authentic, cool, modern, etc). While some could overlap with “behavior” I would think they’re different in most cases. Adjectives vs verbs? I dunno. Curious to hear what others think though so following.
Brand attributes are what the brand has to offer, what it stands for. Brands exist absent time and space.
Behaviors are the actions people perform that use the brand in a specific moment of need. Behaviors are the ways people make the brand relatable in those moments.
