Can anyone who’s a financial reporting manager or accounting manager in industry briefly explain what your actual day to day looks like? I’ve always written those off because I don’t want to spend all day every day doing close and posting journal entries but I realize there’s probably more to these roles than that and that maybe I should open my mind a bit when it comes to my job search. Worried about being bored but also looking for better quality of life. Thanks in advance!

Ngl. It can get VERY boring. But because i work remote and have unlimited PTO, it works really well for me 😅 i get chores/errands done, can take care of family when theres an emergency, I do stuff at "odd times" to be efficient (like go to the gym or drive not during rush hour) etc. Schedule is kind of predictable so i know when to take offical pto

That said.. i think it also depends on the size of the company. My experience is that there are more projects and interesting stuff to do with smaller companies or start ups which lessen the boredom. Worked at large publicly trade company and the pace was really slow. Couldnt really do much projects because im not really allowed to change process because controls were already set bla bla bla. Projects ive worked on in startups revolved around internal control policies/implementation, doing more finance related work like forecasts, cash management, payroll, random audits etc. Doesnt sound all that fun but it changes it up for me so im not complaining 🤣

This is helpful, thank you! Definitely want something a little more hands on so perhaps the smaller company/startup route is where I should focus

Financial reporting has nothing to do with journal entries. It is all about preparing financial statements and footnotes.

Hi Fishes, I cleared an AVP role in JP, Hyderabad. I'm currently at 22 LPA and JP is offering a 45% on this. I have 17 years of experience and 13 years association with Deloitte. Should I consider this offer. Deloitte has great flexibility, my last annual bonus was 3.2L. Does JPMC has flexibility and what other benefits do they offer?
