Good morning. I am currently a senior associate in BugLaw, and I have applied to several trial attorney jobs in Chicago offices of federal agencies since the start of the pandemic. According to usajobs.gov, my applications to the DOJ and CFTC were “referred,” and my application to the SEC was received and my GS scale verified. But I haven’t received any updates on these applications in over a month. Does anyone here have any insights on these or on federal hiring generally? Thanks!
Can I get 15 likes so I can DM please!!??

History of layoffs... Do you mean IBM layoffs too much ?
Been here for about 3 years... Hardly heard of any, at least within GBS India
Lucky you. I am waiting for their offer for 4 weeks now
Look for other opportunities also. They told me your offer is in business hold
Layoffs are always an interesting thing to talk about in the the IT market, all companies do it but some communicate it more transparent to others. IBM is huge and as such sometimes closes whole departments impacting jobs. Other IT companies do layoffs as small strategic projects that most the rest of the company don’t know about. Others are ruthless and just axe whole teams who they don’t feel perform mixing up the good and the bad people unfairly. There is no job for life in IT but there are thousands and thousands of jobs, if you are worried keep your skills current and they will always need people like you somewhere
CG2 I agree with you. But I want understand the practice of layoffs at @IBM. Not layoffs in IT as whole.
As you know some Indian IT firms like TCS, Infy are known for job security I.e very less layoffs. So what I belive is it always helps to the know Firms policy on layoffs to understand the job security before joining them.
Yes, I agree that being current to Market opens new paths. But I believe that job security is something which most of the IT employees are looking for due to the pandemic
I’m giving my perspective as someone in the USA. I have worked for TCS, other American consulting firms, and now IBM. TCS has a job for life culture that is no longer found in US firms. If you want security (and more) TCS is a good place.
