Can someone share their experience transitioning from AE to AS,and what skills you felt like were the most important for you to become successful in the role? Have been AE for 3 years

Just a few things:

1. Handling smaller scale productions with minimal oversight. Could be banners, a social shoot—anything. But carrying from brief to delivery is big.

2. Working effectively with creatives (production and strategy also important). But showing the ability to work alongside them and gain their trust. Be smart and speak confidently to the work with them and to clients.

3. Showing strategic chops. Could be as part of a brief, could be strong competitive insights. An AE can see the week ahead, the Sup should see the month. Can you start seeing that?

4. Managing juniors. Do you have an AAE on the team?

Hope this all helps.

Would also add- proactively knows the steps to take and people to engage when requests come in. Doesn’t need to be asked to handle something, is already thinking about it and has it underway.

Has a solid relationship with clients. Might be the more junior level, but has built trust, clients will reach out to you directly for smaller needs.

Ask for the AS job description and compare it to AE. See how much you’re already doing and where you need to focus and grow over the next year.

AD 1 - this is very helpful, thank you!
Any chance I can DM you?

like

Sure sure. DM away. Wasn’t even aware you could do that on here, heh.

Fake it until you make it. And read “Good to Great” if you’ve never managed ppl (that’s typically a major difference).

Used to work at JPMC in a compliance role. Left for a few years. Interviewing for a WM KYC Onboarding Officer Associate position but have yet to speak to HR. Hey guys! Currently in WM ops at Morgan Stanley for the past 1 year dealing with alternative lending, I’m super underpaid with 3 years of experience which is very frustrating. (73k). Have been at Morgan for 1 year and looking to come over to JPM for an ideal pay bump, but would like to get into IB type roll. Any insight on what I should expect or how to go about applying? Maybe even getting referred? I have a deep knowledge of investments and always felt inclined to go down this route.

I got invited to a second round interview with a big company. The title sounds more senior than my current title, but the work responsibilities feel like a step down. I am wondering if I should still interview (to see if they will consider me for my desired role instead or at least, get some interview practice for when a better opportunity comes along). Thoughts? Is it ok to reject the offer if they make one, on the grounds of the role not being a good fit for me.
