My dad's a senior software architect getting 35 lpa for 18 years work experience in cognizant. His tech stack is AEM and he has worked on angular and Java Projects as well. Since he is getting underpaid a lot ... Hopefully someone can refer him Adobe or some product companies. Even service company with good pay also is acceptable

Needed a job. 🤷♀️
OP it was early on and at the time I applied online and they were gonna pay me more to do more substantial stuff than what I was already doing at a small social media place.
Kind of locked myself in after that.
Didn’t just fall into pharma, I fell into advertising. Had zero interest in being a grownup. I wanted to be an actor, needed a job to pay rent while I did plays at night.
Temped at the AMA, data entry. Boss had a friend at a boutique shop, knew I was creative. They wouldn’t hire me for that, but took me on as an “Account Service Manager.” Basically a PM.
That’s how I got in. I’ve never really wanted out. I love to use both sides of my brain.
Chose it for the money
20 years ago, CD I respected told me to “take the pharma job over the pizza job” and you’ll never be out of work. Fortunately or not, he was right.
Wanted to get back into writing and science without getting an advanced degree, and for job security after working in documentaries and publishing (LOL)
I remember when I was a little boy and I saw my first commercial where the guy said the side effects super fast at the end of the commercial. I looked up at my dad and said, “That’s gonna be me someday, pop.” He never spoke to me again.
I kind of landed here by accident and I have to say I’m glad I did. I walked in as freelance HCP writer to an account in crisis with only a referral from a friend, some raw talent, and an eagerness to learn. That was 16 years ago and I’ve been at it ever since.
Sure, it can be annoying, but so can everything else. This world allowed me to take my natural talent for writing and problem solving and merge it with my latent science nerd. It’s why I own my apartment and might even be able to retire comfortably while I still have some life left (fingers crossed). No regrets whatsoever.
My agency transitioned while I was working there. Learned to love the intersection of science and creativity.
I was in consumer, working for Verizon Wireless back in the day and a friend reco'd me for freelance at whatever agency was formerly known as Rosetta. So, fell into the space and felt it was safer than consumer advertising. But that is not the case any longer, as you all know.
I fell into advertising, but what pulled me in was the chance to work on pharma. I knew I’d love it and I still do. I‘m a strategist though. If I were a creative I might feel differently, though I’d also love to be a medical writer.
I fell into it on accident in college. Needed an internship, wanted to move to New York, and applied to anything I could before I even really knew what advertising or pharma was. Left for a bit, came back because it's all I can get.
Pharma will keep bringing in a paycheck better than any other type of advertising. Going on 25 years here, have been out of work 3 months at the most during that period.
Headhunter placement post layoff. Started in the studio doing mechanicals and crossed over to creative. That was 21 years ago.

Needed a job for bills and wasn’t getting bites elsewhere
I posted my resume on Monster in 2005 when i was 23 and out of work and someone from Euro called me about an associate editor job. I’ve dipped in and out for periods over the years to pursue other interests but I’m still here.
