You realize it’s undergoing renovations. Right? I have been flying into, out of the CLT airport for 30 years and have always liked it. When waiting for my flight I love walking around (and esp the A Concourse addition.) Flew in yesterday and yes, the baggage pickup is trashy. But it’s being renovated.
And?...

The renovations are lipstick on a pig. It’s congested with passengers waiting at the gates with severely lacking seating (not in scope for renovations), inefficient ground operations (won’t be alleviated by a new runway), disconnected concourses for layovers, inconsistent checkpoint openings that lack communication by employees on where to scramble to during peak hours, the lounges are laughably bad, and American hold it hostage (e.g., preventing CLEAR, higher prices than other comparable airports, and failing to provide competent customer service staff).
It’s embarrassing. It needs to be torn down and completely rebuilt but just like every other piece of infrastructure in this town, it’s too far gone to make any changes to come up to the needs of its growth.

It’s not a concern for someone who uses CLt as a home airport, but the majority of those who fly through it each day as a connection point, it’s a nightmare. Part of the issue is how delayed AA is at the airport and how short they time layovers at CLT.
And honestly, I’ll take DFW’s or ATL’s train over CLT’s gridlock and operational failures any day.
The only thing I like about Charlotte is the airport.
