Confession: years of taking meds, I stopped taking them as I thought they affected my health and I work less now. I keep a small stash in case of emergency. Yesterday was one such “emergency”, a big proposal deadline. I forgot how much it really helps. Not only did I sit and write for four hours without interruption but I noticed the smallest improvements like closing cabinet doors and making lunch in a linear fashion. Anyone else take meds only as needed?

I only take my Monday through Wednesday to help me focus on work only.

Thursday and Friday are my light days, internal meetings and ERG stuff mostly and I don’t need to be as “on.”

I don’t want to get to the point where I become so tolerant of my current dose and need to continually up the dosage.

like

Makes perfect sense. I try to do the lowest dose possible - other people tend to notice when I’m on high dose, don’t handle the juggling of phone calls and interruptions as well.

like

🙋‍♀️ been diagnosed as an adult and stayed on the same low dosage of extended release since the day I started. I limit it when large chunk of focus time is required, disruption can be limited, and when lack of sleep make it too hard to function at all. Agree with you that it is very pleasant to be reminded how great and productive I can be, while also knowing that I am not anything less without it.

My doctor was pretty chill about me taking it as needed.

like

Good that your doc is chill about it. My experience has been either docs over prescribe or don’t want to prescribe at all. Perhaps things have evolved in the past 10 years or so

For those of you on medication, how do you manage delayed flights causing you to miss appointments? Often, cancellation policies are strict, expensive, and require several days notice.

Interesting. Let’s see if the uptick In cases continues to drive an uptick in hospitalizations and then in fatalities. Depends on how many of the cases are incidental or in very young people not prone to severe cases. But either way, look at the hospital capacity utilization figures! This is the untold story. Were we bending the curve to avoid unnecessary deaths due to overcrowded hospitals, or were we bending the curve to buy time for treatments and vaccine, or just to slow fatalities?

Has anyone had a Manager that does not work well with your ADHD? Im going through this right now and the way they communicate doesn’t match what I need. If I ask questions, they huff and puff. It’s sucks that I don’t have enough interest to continuously focus on the projects, but now I have even less motivation because I dread dealing with my manager.

I have a coworker who keeps spouting comparative odds and situations in regards to the safety of the vaccine. Such as: you're twice as likely to get hit by lightening than have blod clots from JJ. It's very annoying and I find it to be really inapprorpriate, maybe because it's pushy or just I find these comparative things to be a bit irrelevant. How does one handle something like that? Can you shut the person down without starting a spat?

We all are smart as hell but silly mistakes such as spelling mistakes, broader checks to be done on the deck is killing me. Also I feel the lack of organization in personal life blows into professional as well. If you are a consultant how do u deal with it ?
