Considering an exit from McKinsey as EM with 3 year tenure post MBA to financial services in tech org. TC is $325k with strong growth, WLB drops from 65-80hrs a week to 40-50hrs and no travel. Would you take it?

Only consideration is that it’s a lateral move/slightly down in terms of current comp. Have been high performer st McK

This feels like a no brainer. Take it. Don’t look back.

That sounds to me like an increase from EM comp but I’ve been out for 4 years now so things might have changed

It sounds like a solid move, but obviously growth and promo can be tricky in industry so it’s somewhat a gamble. But upside is great

Yes

Depends. What’s the title, what’s the role?

I’d do it

Easy

Honestly impossible to say without knowing your personal situation and ambition. Do you have/plan to have kids soon? How important is money for you? Progress at the corporate side is a bit less predictable - you could progress well or be stuck at current levels for years…

Kids on the way, but have ambitious career goals. I definitely expect one day have partner level income

1099 or w-2 ? I have been given the option though the company prefers w-2. It’s a day rate booking couple of months or more (no end date). I already have 1099 from similar company this year and am leaning towards 1099, but I don’t want to be difficult. I do take home office deduction and they are not supplying any equipment. Suggestions?
