Guidehouse's raises and bonuses are pretty bad unless you're in leadership. Not worth a $10k bump unless you dislike your current job
Secret clearances aren't hard to come by if you live near DC
I joined as an experienced SC and was promoted to MC in one year. Definitely doable. Find a champion in leadership, become a trusted go to for them, and make your expectations known. Even as an SC my bonuses were I think 12-14%.
In terms of job searching, I think a secret does have some value. Firms look for people with secret clearances a lot of the time, whereas public trusts are given as needed on projects. Public trust isn’t technically a clearance and you may do multiple for different clients.
That’s so funny- I’m considering a jump to BAH with a pay bump AND a step down in responsibilities. Lol. GH bonus is garbage and BAH has more attractive benefits considering they’re not beholden to our private equity overlords.
This is true. Guidehouse is garbage. Get out asap
Secret obviously more valuable than public trust, but nowhere near as valuable as a TS. Doesn’t seem worth it to jump just for the money and the clearance. Will you enjoy the work more, or is it a better growth opportunity?Have you explored shifting to a different team/market in BAH?
I have but BAH seems reluctant to find help with getting higher clearance since my pyramid doesn’t require it. The TC would be roughly 130k as compared to my current 115k for transparency
It depends. It’s more of a prestige or differentiation thing regarding clearances. It may be a hassle since you need to report international personal travel, etc. In terms of career advancement I know some folks that don’t have secret clearance or higher and just have public trust or equivalent and they are doing fine career wise and pay wise.
