Clear as personal and pay it off using their personal card

like

She can just pay it out of pocket and inform the firm that it was a mistake. Pretty common to mark it as personal expense.

likehelpful

I used to use my corporate AmEx for everything back when it had no limit. It doesn’t matter as long as she pays it off and doesn’t attempt to have it be reimbursed. If you’re in a country where it is paid automatically then would need to reimburse the company.

like

I'll have a look at that policy, thank you!

like

Not a big deal as long as she pays it off on time. Frankly, nobody in her group will even know.

like

Not a big deal. I wouldn’t even mention it. If, and only if, they ask - just say it was a mistake. I have accidentally charged stuff to the corporate Amex.

like

Call the hotel and have them refund the corporate card then charge her personal card. I do this all the time when switching between business & corporate stays

like

Is the point of contact for this your supervisor or HR, we are both junior employees and are not aware of the process around marking a charge as personal.

I put $16k on my credit card a month ago for a new HVAC system…

funny

Why doesn't she cancel the charge and supply personal card?

The issue isn't so much the money but that this charge did go though and might violate a policy and cause backlash on her

Nothing should happen, HR will just contact them and request them to write a personal check to pay it off.
I did this all the time at my old company. Hell I mistakenly put $300 a bar fees at 1 AM on it. They didn’t care as long as I paid for it The following week. I also reached out to them immediately Monday morning to resolve the issue

It should be fine but ask her to give talent a heads up. And her manager

For ACN? She’s personally liable for Al charges. She pays, and the company reimburses. She just doesn’t sync it to myTE.

You're in the UK, with an Amex Gold card that is paid off by you personally every month? Nothing will happen. Noone will know. Just don't try to expense it.

I am confused by the question. Why is this an issue? Just pay it off and don’t expense it. Or are you not allowed to use your Amex for personal stuff in the UK? Not a big deal in the US.

One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.
