CRT is over and I was wondering if PwC will layoff people this year in Cyber as certain markets are not performing well.

I don't think it's a falsehood to say that if people are underperforming, the firm will seriously consider severing ties with those individuals. It's not a layoff (in the general sense) but a performance issue. Not unlike many of our competitors during this time.

P4 is right. 5's are being exited by June 30th. Some 4s may be exited as well. But, none of these actions are a layoff or RIF per se. Just normal housecleaning at the end of the fiscal year.

Cyber performed well

Folks who got 5s are pretty much gone already. Those are the only "guaranteed" staff reductions in late May-early June each year. A handful of others who are good folks but perhaps not long term consultants have been offered transfers to other practices or internal roles. There is little question that there was overhiring last year but it's evening out. This is in reference to Advisory only, I have no idea what's up with Assurance.

like

They already did a lot of cleaning + many people left , so they need to maintain the one the left ...

like

I thought cyber is booming?

Assurance or Advisory?

Sorry - meant to add that this approach is agnostic to your LoS or competency

@PwC 4 and 5 - The 4s and 5s are being / already have been exited while those remaining are getting hefty raises within Assurance. There hasn't been much rhyme or reason on the timing though. Some Managers were in May, then some Senior Associates, and now Directors.

Are there any pros to staying at a company and getting laid off, vs. proactively looking for a new job and quitting before it happens? I.e., financial (possibility of receiving severance or any other benefits). Or is being laid off just all bad? I don’t know if my job is at risk — I don’t believe it is — but my agency lost some clients and is talking about cost cutting to be safe and get ahead of it. Fwiw, I’m ready for a change anyway.

Real question: with all the scared people(myself included) in audit and tax with layoffs is advisory the only industry safe? Maybe specifically technology advisory as tech seems to not be slowing down

I was fired last month after a short time at the company. I knew things weren't going well- it was a terrible culture fit & I was also planning my exit strategy. They wouldn't give me specific reasons other than to vaguely say it was performance related. I agree I made a few dumb mistakes (none of any dire consequence) but what kills me is that I tried really hard. I don't want to change careers but I have a deep seeded fear that no matter how hard I try, I will never be a "good attorney".

I have 3+ years experience as a recruiter, 15+ years experience has a top manager/leader, and a bachelor's degree. I haven't worked since I was laid off from my previous position in 2020.
