Hello! Is anyone working at Spotify or HubSpot within product/project management that would be willing to connect for a virtual coffee chat?
I’m a recent grad and currently working in tech/product development. I have been interested in growing my career at either of these companies and would be grateful to gain insight on day-to-day and steps you took to successfully break in.
I know this might be a big ask here, but it’s been difficult trying to land one on LinkedIn. Thanks in advance
Sounds about right for 2020!

Got my exit offer just in time for the new year 🥳🍾
McKinsey & Company Has Mckinsey met BA headcount quota for the year/did they freeze hiring? I interviewed and got to last round last year, and applied again with a referral two months ago but haven’t heard anything from recruiting. Last year I heard back within 1 month of referral drop. I would’ve thought with my 1 more year of experience I should be able to get an interview easily.🥲 McKinsey & Company

I would shoot for director. There have been many big 4 M’s in consulting that come over to the director level. Plus, SM here probably wouldn’t be a pay bump.
Unsure
For some extra context, SM is typically where Business Analysis roles at Capital One start having direct reports
7 YOE projects to Manager or Senior Manager, but with a strong enough background you could try to make the case for Director.
Thanks everyone. Thinking I’ll just ask the recruiter for Director level, worse case they say no or they evaluate me as SM after the interview process.

YOE will define it, but SM at CapOne may at best be a lateral move. Director is a better level
Close to 7 total YOE, but last 2.5 years were at M title and have people manager experience before that. YOE on low end for D (not sure), but scope of work is definitely in that range.
I’d imagine Director is the more suitable role to transition into unless you really like the team/package.

SM promo doesn’t depend on tenure, you could be 4-5 years into M, but need to have a SM case. Look at the salary offered more than the title, given the quantum of experience.
Right. I project I’ll get the promo to SM next cycle due to support and network. But it will take work and nothing is guaranteed, which is what makes a jump to Senior manager appealing. Comp is not significantly different though, 10% base increase based on initial convos with the recruiter.
They tell you how quick you can you get promoted? I applied for an SM and M role - but ended up taking the M role to get more skills / not come in too high and fail. Now wondering if I should’ve just taken SM lol.
No, the Capital one recruiter didn’t tell me how quickly I’d get promoted if I took the role. Neither did my current firm, but I have lots of data points (thanks fishbowl) to know I’m within the time range plus I have a decent support network.
With 7 YOE you can push for director. I came in as SM with 6 YOE. If I was in your shoes, I’d try for director and accept a down level if it came to it.
You have to be REALLY outstanding for the team to go through up-level approvals if you try for SM.
What job family CO3? Are you referring to up level approvals after hired or during interview process?
