Currently an innovation and strategy consultant at a boutique firm specializing in new product/service development. I have experience building products, websites, apps, etc. and I’m very passionate about the tech/startup space.

I am tired of coaching client teams on what products to build and how they should build them. I want to manage a product end to end and actually feel a sense of ownership.

Any recommendations on how to transition into PM? Courses? Etc?

How is the market right now?

How much experience do you have growing a product long term? That's going to be the only thing that matters in this current market. Not a whole lot of junior roles and even less that would be ok with no prior PM or engineering experience

like

Not much experience growing a product long term. We typically research + prototype + launch, then essentially are hands off aside from frequent check ins.

I have gained a lot of experience that would translate to product management and see myself succeeding in the role (due to current job, endless side hobbies since I was a kid, reading hours per day, always watching startup docs, etc) but not sure how I would translate this in an interview/resume unless it was actual work experience.

Any tips on compensating for this lack of long term pm experience? I’m sure there are courses out there but nothing beats just building your own product/app/etc.

Hi, I am currently working at Bisleri in a quality control role with 6 YOE. My current CTC is very low (4 LPA) and I have not found any motivation or growth in my role since COVID. I'd like to be in the design industry (Graphic Design or UI UI Design). Currently I am freelancing in my spare time. My question to Design professionals is: how feasible will the switch be? Will I be accepted as an intern/junior designer in my early 30s?

I see a lot of Jr. Level folks (myself included) in this bowl asking about certain finance exit opps like MM IB and PE etc.

At some point is the comp that much better?

From Big4 Transparency: S1/MCOL/2YOE/FDD making $97k. Managers MCOL close to $150k.

very Selective jobs( MF PE and BB IBs) kinda blow these numbers out of the water... but for the more attainable exits like MM IB and and corporate development... considering wlb and pay, is the grass much greener?

Thoughts?

Have $60K scholarship at Booth, nothing at Sloan. However, I already went to UChicago undergrad and live in Boston so have an established network here. However, concerned about lack of soft skills/leadership development, focus on academics, nerdy culture at Sloan.

Has anyone ever posted a general marketing position? We have an open position on our marketing team but we are unsure what type of position to offer. We have a wide variety of needs but don’t necessarily need to have this future person have all these skills. For example we need someone with great copywriting skills and also need someone who is great at digital marketing. This person doesn’t necessarily need to have both skills but if they did great, but if only one, great too.
