I am sorry to hear that about your daughter. Honestly I’m going through the same thing with my 2 teens. It’s definitely the isolation that’s getting to them.
I was thinking back to how I was at their age and I was always out having a blast just hanging with friends.
I want that for them. I want them to enjoy their teens before taking on adult responsibilities within the next few years.
She used to play soccer but the season doesn't start till the spring. I really hope she's up for it this year, it was good for her even though her performance was slipping
How old is she? It has definitely been hard with my kids in terms of both school (they were virtual for an entire school year, plus the end of the one prior) and socially. Most of all for my Junior in high school who feels like he’s missing so much of the normal high school experience. But some of that is also their ages, the natural inclination to withdraw into their rooms for much of the day because of being teens, being moody for the same reason, etc. Luckily I have an older child who is in college and prepared me for what teendom looks like in a non-COVID world, so I somewhat know what is normal vs what is different due to COVID.
Did the research, found a therapist (I interviewed several), then made an appt and told her she was going! 🤣 Highly dependent on your family dynamic, but I was also direct but kind in telling her why it was necessary so it didn’t feel like an attack. But in the end, I just didn’t make it optional. 🤷🏻♀️
I'm sorry your little one has been negatively affected by all this. As a parent it is always difficult to watch your child go through something like that. My stepson has actually seemed to benefit from the changes in school and whatnot. He has special needs and was getting bullied at school while also not getting the extra attention he needed to learn properly. He flourished so much with distance learning that when the schools here went back to in-person learning we pulled him out of public school and started homeschooling.
Thank you!
