Just got off the phone with a recruiter who asked me what year I graduated from my MBA program and college and effectively told me I was too old for the role. I do have the 1 year of experience they asked for in the job in question. It's just that I have all this other experience in things unrelated to the role or things I want to deemphasize in my next role. Is there anything I can do? I only list the last 8 years of experience (as it's most relevant) and don't have my graduation years listed.

Is that even legal? Not hiring someone because they are too old?

Apparently yes if you play your cards right and not explicitly say, "You're to old". It's like not hiring people because they're not the right race or gender. Though just can't be explicit about it. And it's not worth it to sue Bennettthey the bar is very high to prove it and then when if you win it win destroyv your career.

The legal threshold for protection from age discrimination is age 40, but there are definitely jobs you're implicitly too old for at 30. The tech sector in particular is notorious for age discrimination and I've heard it starts at 35 there.

Guys, I interviewed at amex gurgaon 10days ago and was told by VP that I will hear from HR very soon. But when I checked on HR yesterday, she said interviews are still in progress and it will take a week more to finalize.

Long post alert; I have been interviewing with a b4 for a senior con role since Mar end. Cleared all the rounds including case study and got strong rating as well as good feedback. Fast forward to last week, the talent POC calls me up and informs that she has asked the business if the position is still open, because now they just need the business approval to roll out the offer. I immediately felt demotivated as to ‘why now’ after all rounds have been cleared (continued in the comment below)

What is considered a “large” caseload in employment litigation? I work at a large L&E boutique law firm and handling about 14-15 active litigation cases in state/federal court or arbitration. Venting a bit: Are you finding DEI groups at work overrun with allies. Is there also an increase in celebrating said allies? Is it just me?

Most of the groups I'm in (esp. event teams) are being taken over by allies wanting to do what they think should be done to 'celebrate' whatever topic the month is, usually speaking over marginalized coworkers and rarely consulting with them. It seems like the only time this doesn't happen is for gay (usually yt) men or BHM. I'm just feeling so...minimized.

If you are managing diverse talent, it’s important to understand what the term “privilege” means within a DE&I context so you can lead your team to higher levels of inclusivity+develop optimal strategies for solutioning around team issues/challenges. Everyone has some aspect of privilege depending upon the context. Privilege means the absence of obstacles/barriers, not necessarily the presence of perks.
