Got messaged by a C3 . ai recruiter. Read that wlb is bad and that the interview process is absurdly long, but the Glassdoor reviews are 4.2 and can't find actual hours worked posted by anyone. How's the culture really? I'd be aiming for DS consulting, something more functional but with DS/ML concepts as my differentiator.

You must have been baited & switched like I was 🙂
Best thing you can do is just start applying / interviewing to get up to speed. Looks like you already have the necessary skill set.
Glad I’m not alone with this. I thought there was a chance I could do more work with Python and R but that is far from the case
Get the heck out of IT audit. B4 dupe tons of people to IT audit by calling it part of consulting/advisory.
network with the data analytics practice within your firm and offer to lend a hand on any projects. plug yourself into groups and organizations within the firm and try to utilize data analytics in any capacity with potential events, small pro Bono projects, etc to build experience
With that background should be very doable. Also maybe try the data analytics groups within the firms' M&A practices.
We are hiring people like you @ ey!
Not to piggy back but what would be a good industry job to look at with these credentials? Getting pushed into more and more IT Audit projects despite that not being my role so I’m thinking of leaving consulting altogether
Learn some Python for data manipulation (pandas); that’s the natural “next step” that could differentiate your CV.

What EY2 said. Not sure which B4, DM me if you want out. I’m hiring
I started my career in IT Audit and now I am a full time analytics lead. Key starting point for me was incorporating more analytics into my audit / risk projects, starting with SAP and Oracle analytics to identify control and risk issues (eg segregation of duties).
Perhaps find a way to incorporate analytics into your current role to build up experience.
