Hire a nanny on care.com since we are wfh it is easier to supervise. Not the cheapest option but better to keep both careers going for the parents in case of layoffs
Wife delayed returning to work after a year+ maternity break.
Struggling through balancing between the 2 of us. It’s tough.
Have a 2.5yo and a newborn. Deferred pre-school for the toddler and having our MIL stay with us for first 3 months of newborn being here. Then my wife deferred going back to work until toddler goes back to school in a year. Pretty tough on one salary.
8 mos old. My parents did 2 days a week (but won’t anymore B/C COVID), nanny 3 days. Had to increase Nanny to 4 days and we flex it on Fridays with my spouse working more in the evenings to make up for Friday. It’s not fun, but 5 days is expensive for nanny and ours will only do 4 max and we don’t want to introduce another person to the household. We are not comfortable with day cares until vaccine—represents giant increase of disease vectors into our home.
Wife had to give up her job. We’re down to one income.
yep. Same here
2.5 yo and new born. MIL and SIL has been staying with us since March to help with new born. Wife doesn’t work in the first place.
Supposed to send the older one to preschool but that’s been on hold. If MIL and SIL go back, it’ll still be tough for wife to handle 2 kids who need 100% attention.
Almost 2 year old son has been in daycare the whole time. About to pull him out though because we have Baby #2 due in about a month and we will be on leave.
Son has been in daycare
Have a 2.5 yr old and a newborn (7 weeks). We have our 2.5 out of daycare and will keep them out until things clear up. We don’t think paying to keep our spot is worth the extra expense as my wife is on mat leave. We will just re- enroll when things change. We have coverage a few days/ week with grandmas but we do our best to balance the 2 the other days. Having an empathetic project team helps but in my case they are not empathetic at all.
9, 7, 6,5 6m.. Just me taking care of all five while WFH. Wife works as a teacher and she has to go in.. Take it one day at a time. A positive attitude is key, and a conversation with your team/leadership is key.. As during the day, I don't have much flexibility, so I wake up early and sleep late to catch up on work. So far so good...
