Yep! You get an incredible adrenaline rush after.
Start small...even just a 20 minute walk every day. My preference is do high intensity interval training in the morning (around 7am). Even when I don’t feel like going, I feel incredible after.
Lol absolutely! I can understand how negative experiences in the past have caused aversion to this now.
Honestly starting small and staying consistent is the only way I’ve been able to establish a routine and meet goals. If a 20 minute walk sounds intimidating, maybe even a 5 minute walk - just anything to get yourself used to moving, and, moreover, used to pushing past the feeling of lethargy to get up.
The feel good endorphin release is definitely there. You must pair it with quality sleep however. Working until 3 am and getting up at 6 to exercise before work is a bad idea
Agree, baseline energy is higher, but really what increases is my mental energy. I can be super drained and struggling to walk physically, but mentally so happy, alert, and ready to take on the day. When I started out I used to do it in the evenings after work as a way to blow off steam as a healthier alternative to the work hard party hard mentality of my 20’s, but quickly realised that before work is better as we often work late. That way I’ve done something for myself that day, and I feel better and happier knowing I’ve accomplished something... plus I still have the evenings free to do whatever I want if I don’t have to work late.
No wonder I am so tired and distracted all the time which makes myself more prone to silly mistakes at work :/ it makes sense!!!
One suggestion : if there is one call or meeting a day where I am not presenting but observing I will grab the headsets and walk for 30 minutes or an hour. I also use have a 7 minute work out app that requires no weights - you would be surprised what you can do in 7 minutes. Combine this with good hydration and 7 hours sleep my energy is best. Point here is that small changes can be impactful!
Wow it’s amazing and inspirational how people put so much effort/time out of busy schedule to make it happen and here I am crawling to bed whenever I have the chance. Thanks for sharing!!
Not only from immediately after, I also find my baseline energy is much higher when I exercise consistently.
Thanks! I should keep this in mind and think of it as a long term investment for my energy baseline

Short answer, no (for me). I do exercise regularly and was an athlete in HS and college. I get very tired from working out. For that reason, I prefer to work out in the evening when I usually don't have much else to do afterwards.
Overall, I do see a general boost in energy as I sleep better and feel a bit more mental clarity when I am awake. But the hours after I work out I'm a bit sluggish. I suspect it might be an autoimmune response (related to other baffling issues doctors can't quite diagnose)
This is really interesting. I have an autoimmune disease and I’ve also always found exercise to make me overall more energized but very tired and hungry for the first few hours after. I do wonder if there’s a connection.
Not for me. I’ve been working out regularly for 4 years already. I’m getting satisfied with the fact that I showed up and did it, but no endorphins or adrenaline rush. I love doing yoga, and spinning alone, but overall it’s still just a job for me.
If leg day gives you energy, you’re not doing it right.
Noted-since I’m a newbie I should start with light cardio and avoid leg workout! Lol
Yes definitely- both short term (right after) and long term. I’ve been running daily for the last 2 1/2 years and exercise combined with healthy eating have dramatically increased my energy level. And along with that I’ve lost 120 pounds. 🙂
Yes! 💪🏼
Getting your heart rate up through at the day is important for my energy level
Not really more energy but more so an adrenaline rush. I used to work out early morning (6/7am) and would be exhausted, laying in bed not wanting to go to the gym and would have to drag myself out. But then the minute the class started, even though the class was hard and making me tired, mentally it woke me up and I felt much better. Now during covid I’ll only work out after work and I may have had a bad day or am so busy that I realistically shouldn’t take a break to work out or am super stressed but working out enhances my mood really well. My SO has even noticed on those kind of days that after I work out, I come around in a much better mood.
So yeah, wouldn’t say necessarily for myself that it gives me physical energy but definitely provides mental clarity and mood enhancement.
Mental energy is also what I need...my mood is always down so I tried counseling and such but it only helped temporarily. Sounds like mental and physical health go hand in hand. Thanks for sharing!!
I have seen people beating depression with an exercise routine. My wife started htti with weight training and has overcome her postpartum depression. She is stronger, healthier and happier then ever (mentally and physically)
My SO will be thrilled to hear this because he doesnt know what to do whenever I get depressed or having those mood swings. Thanks for sharing!
Wow, thanks everyone for your feedback-didnt realize the magnitude of benefits exercise can bring. No wonder my mental health was declining along with physical health. Also, did anyone experience allergy symptoms getting alleviated as you were getting healthier via exercising or is that irrelevant? Read some articles they are correlated but wanted to see if anyone actually experienced thus first hand?
Haha actually I have developed exercise induced allergies the past year, symptom of getting older I guess. I only really get them when doing hard HIIT classes. Luckily I sweat enough that the snot blends with my sweat so hopefully people can’t tell 😅
No, and if you have asthma it can get worse if you do a lot of HIT classes, intervals, or long distance running.
No stupid question, in addition to looking great naked you get way more energy
