I teach freshmen who haven't met the only other single teacher in my department. Today, I asked one of them to take something to him and immediately kids started talking about how we were dating. Ugh.

I want to find ways to build up team morale without resorting to clichés like a pizza party. What are some of your favorite ways to give back to employees?

Anyone witness slackers who got into companies you have no idea how? Had a coworker who does jack chit at work besides chatting on Facebook yet lands at a faang company? I guess if he brings the same work ethic he will be spit out for sure. Or maybe he just had no interest in doing project work.

Everyone on my team is leaving the firm. The PPMD who hired me left the firm before my start date, now two seniors have left in the last 2 months. My team will be down to <3 with no manager/SM/PPMD. A Manager/PPMD from a diff. City is going taking our “office” over, so I’ll be the random staff that lives out of state but reports to them. What would you do?

Used to be in a quant group. We had an underperforming staff who we let go. He claimed to HR he was discriminated against bc he was an MBA. To which they responded: that's not a protected class.

How do you deal with your “mentor” being threatened by your performance and gatekeeping information from you? Then turning around and giving you shit for not knowing things… but they don’t tell you anything and there is no way for you to know. My learning and development is being hindered and I’ve felt this for a long time, but coworker just confirmed this is the case. Now that I know I’m not “crazy” for thinking this, how should I approach this?

Does anyone have an intern or other person calling FOR them? If so, how are you working it? What kind of script? Whats the goal for them on the first call? What restrictions do they have.

There’s no reason you have to put up with a job you hate. I spent many years working in a toxic environment with a boss who gossiped and lead through fear. He wasn’t really much of a leader but basically a foreman. And he could make my existence miserable. I admit that it wasn’t easy to find another job but the bottom line is: trust your guts. If you feel something is wrong it’s because it probably is. Don’t second guess yourself. Look for options and and fight for your mental health.

Has anyone addressed their ADHD with their boss directly? For example, I have a really hard time with long meetings. I can’t sit still and pay attention and I wonder if sharing this with my boss would be helpful or if it would raise red flags. Funny enough, my job is very detail oriented.

Any embarrassing moments so far in your first projects?

Have you tried encouraging cards highlighting their strengths? When’s the last time you said “Thank you” out loud to everyone in front of everyone? Bought lunch? Participated in a team building event? Encourage a team atmosphere and keep the lines of communication open. Just my thoughts

Working at a company and they can’t seem to hold on to their female, black and people of color employees. I blinked and 3 of the people who were in my onboarding class were either fired or they left. Witnessed ageism in a unusual way. I am a P, Male, 51
Client counterpart and I were discussing a Consultant and the client told me he didn’t want this guy because the consultant is in his 50s. I quietly told the client that cannot be a reason plus I am in my 50s and you should have seen the client back paddle with compliments for me. Just a weird situation. Ageism is real.

I know this isn’t a marriage therapy bowl, but my husband has a really terrible tendency of saying things like “you’re being really mean” and completely shutting down during a disagreement when i objectively am not being mean, just truthful or vocal about how i feel about something. It’s a really convenient argument for him because it enables him to either be the victim and me the villian, or forces me to concede my stance and not reach a true resolution. My project at a FAANG company completes the end of this month.
