No promotion for me...time to quit!
Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?

You guys need to be careful about posting topics like this. If a few underperformers get cut after mid year review that doesn't mean we are laying off. You create a sense of panic when you do this so if you don't know for sure there are mass layoffs maybe be a little more responsible about insinuating a layoff in a public forum and creating anxiety for everyone
I enjoy the transparency even if it makes me nervous
A friend of mine (2nd yr SC, S&O, NYC) was just fired. Was on the bench for a few weeks. Seems like their still at it.
Haha, PWC1, very smooth thread hijack, I didn't even notice until K1 said something
There's no layoffs happening. You guys need to chill
Not sure I understand - I'm having to decline 3-4 "urgent" project requests unsolicited every time I get close to my roll off date, and all I hear about is SMs and PPDs complaining because there's no one on the bench for odd jobs. We're tracking well over 100% of plan, how can there be layoffs?
I've gotten twos on all my projects but it's definitely a fearful culture. I've started actively searching for jobs just in case the axe falls on me. I had wanted to do GSAP at one point but I can't stay here thinking I could get fired.
M1 - the fearful culture is incredibly well-warranted. Claiming that only under-performers are being laid off is simply not the case. Every person at the firm can give you at least one example of a high performer who was released based on a silly factor such as not being staffed at the moment. Ignoring facts doesn't change facts. People deserve to be scared that layoffs have been happening (either in full force or sporadically) for more than eight months.
I don't care about layoffs of low performers, but it feels like more than that/the bar keeps shifting. Someone that our SM praised got laid off last week and during the last layoff in March, the top rated C on the project during project consensus for a 35 person project got laid off. It feels fake to say "low performers only" when I see these examples of good performers let go. Sure, they could have been flukes, but definitely creates a culture of fear.
Performers can get laid off for other reasons, you don't have the full picture. It sucks when people get fired but just because someone you heard is good got canned doesn't mean we're all on the chopping block
D13, I personally know of about 8-10 in Healthcare from Fri and understand there were more than that.
@P2 Yes, Healthcare Provider, PI, SC, and IT
Right, just be careful and realize the impact. People get fired all the time, layoffs are scary for everyone and if there are threads titled "Deloitte layoffs" every week it creates a fearful culture that isn't warranted
Sounds like a bunch of one offs, lot of speculation as to why people are laid off, etc. Tax just had a legit layoff a few weeks ago in the hundreds on one day, but nobody else has. Just chill out a little bit
Lots in Healthcare
@P2 from colleagues there...Fri
We are letting people go across Consulting and Advisory. Word on the street was that Consulting wasn't doing well, but the firm as a whole has to make cuts
Any in SCMO?
Seems to be just S&O again?
Not every service area/FSS is tracking like yours is. My area is red hot, but others are really slow
