I’m looking to carve out my career in HR. I have 2 years in a dedicated HR Coordinator role (essentially with Generalist duties) and 5+ years in senior level hospitality management. I’m interested in getting my PHR or getting a certificate in data analytics with business/HR focus. Thoughts on next steps?

Texas 🐠 - what would you consider a good salary at a manager level in Texas? (Austin to be more specific). I’m currently in a HCOL city and I am negotiating my salary for a position in Austin but don’t want to aim too high because of what I’m currently used to and shoot myself in the foot for that. Is anyone else who is currently unemployed and looking for their next role, slowly running out of steam? I used to get up and reach out to my network, network, apply for roles, redo resume/site, take a few online classes (to stay up to date), staying up to date on design trends etc.. Has anyone here been able to recover from career setbacks caused by Dot Com, 9-11, or Great Recession economy? Just turned 40 with 15 years of relevant industry experience, and my Big 4 employer brought me in at a level designed for 25 year-olds. Career progression is apparently based on time in role rather than performance, so I’ll have to spend 8 years climbing back to the level I was at pre-recession. Is there another way, or is my career stuck in neutral?
