Full refund to form of payment, or work with them to get you on an alternative itinerary.
In the United States, airlines are not required to compensate passengers when flights are delayed or cancelled. Compensation is required by U.S. law only when certain passengers are “bumped” from a flight that is oversold.

Passenger rights don’t really exist in the USA so you won’t get any compensation for the delay. According to Delta’s Contract of Carriage:
“Delta will transport the passenger to the destination on Delta’s next flight on which seats are available in the class of service originally purchased… If acceptable to the passenger, Delta may provide transportation in a lower class of service, in which case the passenger may be entitled to a partial refund.”
So she will get to travel first class on a later flight or travel at a lower class on a sooner flight and might get a partial refund.
No compensation. Alternative flight or refund.
