No joke and judgement intended here - talk to a professional.
Look at your firm resources. I know we have an area on our portal. I believe some people text with their therapists and everything. See what your firm offers!
Like, an actual doctor.
These could also be signs of an underlying problem. I thought I was just stressed out from work, nah both thyroid and kidney problems.
Damn that sucks. I actually have an auto immune disease already, so I know the deal. Based on that though I’m not nearly as bad
@OP
Lengthy naps such as those are a VERY common symptom of depression. I went though the same thing...
Others have mentioned about it potentially being linked to health causes. It very well might be but I’m skeptical. The way you worded your post clearly depicts a correlation between chronic work-place stress and your depression.
The exact same thing happened to me. I was struggling to get married, move out into an apartment, study for my CPA, and do 70+ hour weeks at KPMG. No one person can handle that load with no ill effects.
If it is workplace related, I mean this in all seriousness, I recommend really exploring the career your find would suit you. DON’T think about makes money and/or what’s secure. Do that and the rest will fall into place.
I was depressed due to the chronic stress for as long as I was in public... a total of over 4 years. I ended up making experienced Senior, got my CPA, was on track to be manager... but I hated my life and couldn’t enjoy anything outside of work. I quit to pursue a career in sales and I’m finally happy. No “help” from a pill peddling Dr. either.
If you can, try getting a boost of endorphins by incorporating some light exercise (walking, jogging, biking, whatever). This helps my mood when I feel down and lethargic. It's hard to start, but once you do it, you feel better.
Go to a therapist. The firm has resources through EY Assist to get you therapy sessions (some for free I think, too). Therapy has helped me with other things and it can be very beneficial for you too. Hope you can get some relief soon. Everything else will work out just take care of yourself ❤️
Thank you everyone!! I think it’s just a combo of everything. I just found out I marginally failed my last cpa exam, which caused me to lose TWO sections. I also recently ended an unhealthy relationship, moved back in with my parents, and had my bday last week (which gave an identity crisis meltdown haha). So life is just kicking my butt. I hope 2020 is better.
I tried looking on my firm’s portal for info/resources but couldn’t find anything yet. I’ll look harder this weekend. I’m hoping spending some time with friends/family over the holidays will help too.
Oh sorry! For some reason I thought your handle said EY 🤦🏼♀️ I hope wherever you’re at has similar resources!!
Sorry to hear of your struggles. Please do reach out and get someone to talk to All of the forms have assistance programs that are both confidential and professional
Wishing you the best / get some rest this weekend
A few things. Go to your PCP.
Ask for a referral to a sleep specialist and get a sleep study done. A lot of depression is actually symptoms of a sleeping disorder.
Get to therapy ASAP as well. Pwc covers 6 sessions for free. Also, get more sunlight and try to exercise.
Sorry you’re going through this. I’ve been there and it’s really tough. Thanks for sharing here and please do keep us posted.
I wish I could nap. I can hardly nap anymore cuz my brain is always active
Wine.
Gotta study tho 😭😢
