Thank them, add a personal detail from your conversation with them, then wish them well and say you look forward to hearing from them.
No need to reiterate value to role imo.
This. Trying to sell yourself after the interview will always make you seem thirsty.
Update: sent a note thanking for their time, that I was still excited about the opportunities they shared, looking forward to next steps.
Only heard back from their HR team but they said I’m moving to the next round!
As someone who has done A LOT of interviews recently, I always appreciate the follow up email even though I usually don’t respond or only respond w a quick “thanks, you too!” Shows me you know how to be a decent human, treat customers, and coworkers
When I write thank you emails to hiring managers I try and build on the conversation to demonstrate how proactive I am in my thinking and hoping to underscore the value I’d bring to their org, lead in like “I was thinking more on our conversation, here’s my approach to (that thing you said keeps you up at night)”. It helped me get my current client side role.
The fact that you thought enough to write a note speaks volumes. Coming from a place of gratitude does as well. Being appreciative of just having the opportunity to meet with them.
I think it matters more that you write the note and not as much the contents. I know I rarely read them thoroughly but make note of who sends them. Keep it simple, reference the conversation you had, and call it a day!
A simple note is fine IMO. A “thanks for your time”, “I hope we get the opportunity to work together” etc. that’s all. To me, one of the most important parts of being desirable at an interview is enthusiasm. To me, enthusiasm could be a key indicator of a willingness to dive in and learn and expand, and that’s what I want on my team.
