Do I stand a chance in consulting?

Background: bachelors (GPA 3.5) and masters (GPA 3.8) in accounting, 1.5 years of experience in tax at PwC as associate. Currently on H1B visa.

I don’t have any consulting experience, maybe just a few cases at school. I don’t consider myself aggressive, I’m more of a laid-back person. Im hard working and don’t mind working high hours.

I have got an offer for Manager level at a Big 4 in Consulting. People who are 3-4 years juniors at my MBA college are at Manager level and might get promoted sooner than me. Also, a couple of immediate juniors are at Senior Manager level.

Is it wrong that I’m just not into PE/VC? It seems to be the most desirable exit for most people that I work with. How does a sole engineer at a company go about getting management to actually care how production machines run? Student loans question: my sister has $100K in loans. She has $15-20K sitting in her bank account. The question that I’d like your guys’ input on is whether she should reduce her principal (and thereby total interest payments) by paying down debt lump sum ASAP or is she better off chipping away where certain months she adds on $500-$1000 to her fixed payment?
