Most point programs are basically locked to a given spending partner (unless you want a clearly horrendous rate). In short, I spend my airline miles on flights, my hotel points on hotel stays.
My only flexible rewards point program, Chase UR, I mostly stockpile, but I cash out some points on bonus category redemption that arise.
Hotels. That’s the most expensive part of traveling !
I spend my airline points on flights and my hotel points on nights.
Once you hit lifetime platinum/titanium Marriott status, it’s better to use a corporate rate, and still get all the goodies like lounges, free breakfasts, and bar tickets and then just use points for air travel.
Havent paid for a flight in the last 8 years. I do want to start flying business though and haven’t figured out the class upgrades system
I have more than what i can use. So i sell them
Card point: I mostly pay myself back. Best value
Miles Point: I spend on flights. Again, best value
You're not accounting for all the extra money you spend to use the points for trips you wouldn't have otherwise taken.
Unless it’s a really good hotel deal, you’re generally going to get a better value using your points on airfare.
Hyatt hotel is the best bang for your buck.
