Do people think return to office plans will be impacted at all by the delta variant?

The delta variant does infect and can cause serious illness vaccinated folk. I am not sure why people are using vaccination as a reason to go back to office. I think it will be delayed once more and more people get infected and companies realize vaccination doesn’t mean Immunity

like

But it’s not 2% is my point - it’s more like 1-10% OF 2% for those who are vaccinated.

Though there is evidence of some level of breakthrough in vaccinated people with delta, the level to which it reduces mortality and contagion is still good enough to a point that I personally don’t see it as unethical or immoral to request vaccinated people return to the office.

You have a right to your viewpoint and I to mine, but you have now stated multiple opinions as fact; that is why I don’t intend to reply any further after this - it’s not productive to discuss with someone who doesn’t accept that multiple viewpoints may have at least some level of rationality behind them even if the people who hold them disagree.

Don’t know in general but my firm is already back basically full time. No impact from delta - we’re all vaccinated

like

Not yet.

We’re all vaccinated so plan is still post Labor Day. Most folks are back 1-3 days a week already

I think plans for staff to return back to office were implemented prior to the delta variant being a concern. I have my doubts that there is a chance return to office plans can get scratched if levels begin to increase again over the summer.

Absolutely. Businesses can be ethical by treating people the way they’d want to be treated. 3 ways Airbnb can do this: Aggressively fight fraudulent listers, let Airbnb members control their data (allow data requests/permissioning/deletion from any state or country), and oh - make it easy for people to get their money back if their travel was affected by covid-19. How not to be ethical: marketing ethics vs living them.

I’ve made it 5+ years in a NY M&A practice and have consistent exceeding expectations reviews. I’ve had a few mental breakdowns because of work during this time, but thankfully made it through. I’m scared shitless that I’ll spiral out of control both at work and at home if something doesn’t change soon. Any suggestions on how to keep this job and keep it together?

My wife got a job that requires us to relocate to San Diego. We have never lived there and know little about the city. We are planning to rent. We stayed in a hotel in little Italy and really loved the vibe there, but it’s too expensive for us. Are there other neighborhoods with similar vibes - restaurants, bars, lively, good for walking, clean, safe, young, diverse and accessible that are more affordable? Please share recommendations. How much should we reasonably budget to rent a 2bd/2bath?

I got that coveted big law job.

But I would much rather want a family of my own and someone to hug and kiss, something I feel really sad about around christmas.

Never had much contact with my dad, and two years ago, I broke off contact with my mother because I realized that she had been a manipulative narcissist my entire childhood.

Working 50-60h weeks on average doesn’t help your dating life though, and who would want to date someone with no family anyway

Cavatappi in Roasted Red Pepper Cream Sauce

Tired of of the same old boring tomato marinara sauce? Try a roasted red pepper cream sauce!

Red bell peppers are roasted in the oven until sweet. It is then blended with caramelized onions, garlic, red pepper flakes, sun dried tomato paste, and cream into a silky, smooth and velvety sauce. Finish the sauce with a knob of butter and coat your pasta. Cavatappi works well here. Don’t forget to shave a little Pecorino Romano

I’m interviewing at Google’s Treasury team. The role would be as a rates analyst managing their portfolio - primarily cash and short duration fixed income products (100bn aum). TC: ~150k, not sure of breakdown.

I currently work as a quant/middle office at a very well reputed mutual fund, but this is not a market facing role. TC: 125k, but they have a very generous profit sharing plan that contributes 25% of my pay to retirement accts if I stay for 6 years, so ~160k?
