I am recent Post Graduate with focus in Finance in Vancouver. I am attempting CFA L1 and with non tech and a non CPA background, any words of wisdom if I should apply in the current spring recruitment cycle at KPMG Canada?

Majority of the positions require a preference towards CPA and even non CPA posting indicate a preferred preference towards CPA. Should I still apply or preferably seek other positions? Also seeking referrals for the same

Buy professional color, not student grade. Student grade just has a lot of filler and little pigment. There are affordable professional lines.

Get into good habits of prepping surfaces. You can use thick paper if you gesso it, but as you get better you will want more lasting surfaces. This is part of the value of oil painting, it lasts longer. Try oil ground and pva size.
It is a forgiving medium. You can paint over or scrape it off. It takes forever to dry. Take that into account, you'll want to varnish it after 6 months or so for that nice glossy look.
I second classes, but for now YouTube. I always have a stack of those board canvases to remind me that my paintings aren’t that precious. 😉
Learn how to manage your palette - it will serve you well as you progress.
