Do we have "Sir" culture here? or we address seniors with just the name without any "Sir" suffix?
Not in my professional life of 9 years, I have addressed Seniors/Managers/VP/CEO etc. as "sir".

If its PwC india Kolkata, you have to call ppl Sir, Dada, Didi etc even in the formal mails to clients. You may choose not to follow if you are confident enough.

funny

I call someone in my office dada even though he is practically elder than what my uncle would have been today. Feels weird AF.

funny

I usually call everyone by their name, ive seen everyone calling partner or director by sir/maam which i don’t follow and support

Depends on the practice you're in.
If its G&PS, yes you ll use "Sir". It's pretty common with government clients.

Not in other practices.

Don't compare and confuse Big4 with Infy TCS of the world. We are different based on the practice you work with.

No. There is no sir culture i have noticed atleast in BLR, Chennai.
But the Da, di suffix is used a lot in kolkata. I personally address my seniors in kolkata by da, di.
Its a cultural thing, i dont see why it persists.

For clients, and other partners, we use Sir quite a bit, on formal communication

The responses are pretty worrisome for me. Will these seniors or client feel disrespected if I just call them with their name. I remember my first day of career with Accenture 9 years back, the first thing our batch did was to greet the trainer with Good morning Sir, and he said "Never ever call anyone from your workplace Sir or Madam, it is unprofessional, use either firstname or lastname."
From then I have just used names of other people irrespective of their age, gender, seniority or position.

Lesson learnt:

Never tell your colleagues where you are joining beforehand.
Not all are good advisors, some will ruin your mind with their opinions.

My ethnicity makes me a minority but I would never join a minority affinity/business resource group. I think it creates separation which can lead to an “us versus them” mentality - a step backwards. I’d like to hear some thoughts from people who disagree and if they are in these groups or not

Any Hr people out there..my wife is going through a harassment case against her boss. He is retaliating against her and other staff. On going for years. Most recently she had to take a leave of absence. There is a formal investigation into him. What is the timeline this should take ? And should he be allowed to have 1on1 talks with other staff members?. He is in damage control now trying to buy everyone lunch and doing his own PR tour. Month into investig doesn't seem like much has happend yet.

I have a wee crush on one of the partners in my firm and I thought he liked me too, but neither of us did anything about it (which is entirely appropriate). That was all pre-Rona. Now I’m leaving the firm and pursuing another opportunity and staying in the same city. Since he’ll no longer be my boss, is there a way to find out if my feeling was correct? How should I go about this? (Especially given Rona?)

My annual perf discussion is monday morning. I work on a tough team for a tough place. I try to tell myself he has 6 direct reports and has to do this with everyone, Im no more or no less special - but I hate these convos and negative feedback even when most of it is unsurprising/fair feedback. I have a direct report who is smart, passionate about her job and can be really innovative. However she carries this enormous weight of responsibility, for needing to do everything, do it right, make sure it's perfect, not trusting colleagues to help. It creates dread and panic and overwhelming workload and a terrible attitude for her and I am speaking with her this week to start to shift her mindset. Any tips in navigating how to let go of this heavy idea of "responsibility"?
