This would be beyond the scope of a sponsors duties but if you have a close relationship with your sponsor, put it under the category of fellowship and discuss. The sponsor will tell you if it's out of bounds. He may not want AA people bothering his wife. Or, his wife might be intimately familiar with the aa world and her husband's AA friends. Your sponsor does not owe you access to anything about his life.
My sponsor and I discuss all aspects of my life, including and especially work related topics, as it relates to my program and emotional sobriety. As you might imagine, there's plenty of opportunity for spiritual growth for me with at work, so nothing is off the table in that regard.
As far as outside issues, my sponsor is also trying to be a better and more thoughtful person, and he is happy to offer help outside the specific construct of being a sponsor. An example I can give is that he offered up his own place of employment as a suggestion to offer my daughter, who was looking for her first "real" job at the time. That said, he didn't offer to be a reference or to otherwise pull any strings, knowing that his sober wife has a higher role.
I would posit that having the right career can go a long way towards one having quality emotional, so an inquiry like this isn't completely an outside issue, but I would caution to not have any expectations, as the last thing you need is a resentment towards your sponsor because they weren't as helpful or forthcoming as you had hoped.
Don't do business with anyone you actually like in your life. Or anyone you are unwilling to lose as a friend.
Ab-so-lutely.
Did business with a “friend” in AA before - never again.
