I recently interviewed for L7 EM at Google and had 4 great interviews and one not so great system design. I submitted external referrals all of which gave great feedback. The recruiter said the next step is team match/interviews and then the HC. Anyone in a similar situation? What was the result? Google

I’m always wary of those who rave about how “it’s like a family here”. If there’s enough time in an interview, maybe it’s worth sussing then out. Questions to ask could include:
“Tell me about a time when someone’s performance needed improvement. What did you do and what was the outcome?”
“What would you say is an aspect of the team culture that’s not as good as you’d like?”
I hate that comment “it’s like a family here.” Family doesn’t put you on a pip and fire you.
Everything is subjective. Things to take into mind :
-Most people if they fill out Glassdoor or something are disgruntled, if everything is good why would you randomly jump on there?
-everyone has different paths to get to their role, if someone comes from an absolute terrible place, just normal terrible could be described as best they’ve experienced.
Coming up with questions like “if x happened how would you approach as a manager?” Or things like that, if someone isn’t expecting a question they didn’t have time to build a positive narrative over something they handled poorly.
This sounds cynical but no. I feel like they're never honest. Every company simply wants to sound good to entice new employees and keep their brand name positive. Doesn't mean they necessarily lie, but I don't think they're honest about the reasons people leave or what the real downsides are.
Hmmm....good question Like someone above said its subjective. I do think some people who say they love it and speak really highly of a place really do enjoy it and think they are being truthful.
