Never in 30 years.
We rarely even get raises
Yes but we rarely hit the target 😭
If you’re counting on a bonus to make a low offer feel acceptable, their plan worked. It’ll never happen.
You’re so silly!!
Yes SVP & above
The only agency I got a yearly bonus at was smaller, and because we didn’t have a matching 401k program, so they offered this instead. Ironically my bonuses always just went toward my credit card debt because I was already broke lol
Yes but we don’t hit our revenue goals so no
Worked 25 yrs for both holdings and only gotten bonuses twice

This has only happened twice in my career. I worked in Mexico City a few years and by law, every company over a certain amount of FT employees has to give bonuses based on earnings. It’s called “reparto de utilidades” which roughly means “profit sharing”. It’s funny because I worked for a Publicis agency there and they had to do it (also Christmas bonuses are mandatory). But the same holding companies here in the US don’t have to do shit, so they don’t.
The other time was here at an independent agency in a smaller market. The agency was employee owned and had profit sharing that went to your retirement account when the stock price went up. But there were other bonuses that you could get when you had your annual review if the company was doing good.
Yes
Usually only for executive teams.
You only get a real bonus at much higher levels, everyone else gets a pat on the back.
You get bonuses when you exceed your target, get organic incremental growth, make the clients love you so your indespensible and then threaten to leave
THIS—get client time, achieve their personal attachment through chemistry and perceived performance, then hint about moving on.
But be careful, seniors at your agency will watch for this and try to temper the power this brings you to avoid losing their share of compensation to you—even as bonuses.
It's all very tricky footing the closer you get to the client and where the money flows in.

Yes but only certain levels.
bonuses are more based on your level, how you did for the year and how the account you’re on is doing.
if the agency is doing well, we get an extra deposit into our 401ks as “profit sharing”
Yes I got a cash bonus and additional stocks as a senior strategist despite being just short of our fiscal goals
I have heard this for media. But in creative agencies, revenue goals are complex (and delulu thinking for bonuses like am I pitching every week?!) And holding company agencies usually only do raises when u are at the top.
Though I have gotten unexpected bonuses when we have had unexpected boosts in revenue.
Just depends on the owners/holding company.
I got bonuses the boutique agencies where I worked at. Never at the holding Cos
