The market here is very tight and very expensive, If you’re particularly motivated to make it work here, it is certainly possible, but there are plenty of other options that might suit you better.
The Bay Area is having a bit of a crisis in terms of lack of population returning after COVID so even though it’s expensive there might be more opportunities and better housing opportunities to exploit given the commercial market.
San Diego is almost certainly not the ideal place for your career. But man, it’s a awesome city. I’m in a similar situation, and have decided that the opportunities and benefits outside of my professional make it worth it to me to make it work.
For me, I chose to be here, and I can’t imagine settling down anywhere else.
Agree. I wouldn’t say San Diego is the ideal job hunter spot but then, what kind of jobs are you looking for? For me, I’ve always been remote. So while it does limit me, I wouldn’t be looking for a position that ties me to an area anyway.
Go towards bio start ups and anything with the environment to translate your tech skills from consulting. If SD is too tough you might like SF, Monterey, or El Segundo better
