At PwC there are 3 categories - 1) International business traveler - it’s nothing more than you’re working on a project in another country so yes your salary is still the same and you still work for the US firm 2) short term assignment - generally 12 months, and I think you stay part of the home firm. 3) Long term assignment/secondment - this is a true expat experience, were you relo and become an employee of the host firm, including local salaries, which may be lower than your home salary. Usually you have the right to return to your home country within 2 to 3 years.

Home office preference question. I am getting ready to redo the layout of my home office. One option I'm considering would have my desk facing a wall. I am wondering if anyone with this current setup has any feedback about it. I would face the wall so that I would have a better background for video conferences (am on about half the day) and also my cord situation would be cleaner.

I am lateraling because my firm has forced us back into the office 5 days a week. My office isn’t super social and we are all slammed, so going into the office consists of sitting alone in my office, just like I would at home, except I wasted an hour getting ready and commuting, am in uncomfortable clothes, and am less efficient. I am actually miserable sitting alone in a cold, drab office as opposed to hanging out in a beautiful home office with my dog. People in power: take note.

Looking for a treadmill for a standing desk. But also want one that I can run on. I would like walking distances to go up to 4-4.5 and running up to 8-9 mph. Would be great to have one of those that the rail and be moved and the treadmill placed under the desk for walking. Incline would be great. Any suggestions or is it technically not feasible to have all of this in one machine?
