Guys , whoever is interviewing and planning to join , do ask project availablity on priority basis before you take decision. On Java front looks like there is some project issue due to recent slowdown in market. My offer was not revised even after agreement with recruiter because of this.

Lots of extra work. I know gen ed teachers who teach one subject all day and have been using the same lesson plans year after year and get productive results. As posts above pointed out, the paperwork is nonstop and trying to modify different grade level material, multi subjects, work on my goals and my own classroom material, takes a toll. Not to mention no help from higher ups, which I should complain, they never come to the class but sure do expect people to jump when they need something or a parent gets involved.
One thing I have noticed about working in SPED is that the administrative paperwork and tracking is SO time consuming. Districts could help relieve some of that burden. Could someone set up the IEP’s? Take care of the printing and distribution? Do some ToT observations? Set up the transition paperwork? IT would help tremendously…..So, yes, especially after the last two weeks, it is a grind.
I remember when IEPs used to be less than 10 pages long…
What everyone described above is a reason for:
1- Historical teacher shortages in Special Ed at the school year start and prior to Covid.
2- Higher pay scales have been used for Special Ed teacher in some states, historically; at least one metro area began $15,000 annual signing bonuses 2021 to reduce shortages (it worked)!
Yet until we update our Industrial Era systems, structures, and retrofitting Special Ed content, how can it change?
