Does anyone else feel like your female students aren't heard as much as your male students? Girls bring up valid points in class discussions and get ignored. Boys raise the same point later – lightbulb moment!

No, the girls are assertive in discussions. The girls are the first ones to demonstrate math problems on the board and compete for the hard ones. Maybe something happens in middle school that causes what you are experiencing.

In some cases yes. But the boys I teach tend to be louder and more vocal than some of the girls in my classes. Then I have other classes where the girls talk a bit more than the boys. And they both bring up good points. Though sometimes the boys can be a but sillier.

As a math teacher, my girls are the ones that are doing the best. I have some classes where it is even but some of my classes have a higher male ratios but it's the females that are answering the questions and attempting the assignments. Most of the boys sit and play games on their phones and listen to music.

I see the bro/jock/popular boys getting the high-fives for stating obvious and lazy answers. While the girls are giving the meaningful and thought out and insightful comments. So I can see this as well, like we are so excited that the boy spoke on topic that we discredit everything the girl contributed.

I was promised a promotion, then was told I wasn’t getting promoted, started applying to other places, fought for it and ended up getting promoted and a raise. I was just offered a job at another agency for $15k higher than the raise I just got. I’d like to stay at my current agency but NEED the $. How do I navigate this?

Hi all. I am trying to determine if I am being compensated fairly. I am a tax manager (about to start my second year as manager) and have been with EY since staff 1. I was promoted to manager in June 2020 (during covid) and received a 7.5% raise. The class above me has mentioned they received much higher raises during their promotion years. My base salary is now approx. 97K. Any insights would be extremely helpful. Thanks!

Hello, I am in USI GES tax at DUSI. I love my job but not my team and mgmt anymore. I'm a performer and I'm dumped with work of 2 ppl while others are searching for work. I am burned out.

I resigned and accepted a job with EY GDS with a huge pay bump that DUSI can't match but I also gave up my potential promotion for 2023.

I've been feeling bad about putting my papers down and letting go off my promotion but I am really tired. I took up this job as an escape.

Did i do the right thing?

Hello! I’m gearing up for my year end comp conversation and I’d like to be a better idea of what people are making to ask for a raise. I work for a large asset manager and sell alternative investments (PE, RE, Credit, Infra etc) to RIAs, family offices, and multi family offices. I’m currently an associate, but am hoping to get VP this cycle. Any insight on what your comp looks like and how it’s structured would be super helpful!

If you’re not competent enough to solve real problems in the organization, create a few minor problems that you can solve and look like a hero.

But you have to ensure the org feels the pain of your decision before promising to fix it. It’s like the three parts of a magic trick: the pledge where you float your idea, the turn where you inflict your idea, and the prestige where you fake a way to fix the mess you made on purpose.

Only works managing up, tho.
