Not at Milbank but as in-house counsel that uses them I assume it’s high-end work with high-end hours.

Do we have a portal or any online space where we can look for people to share apartment since we're all moving to office locations. Me and few friends of mine have recently joined and are looking for flatmates in Bangalore.

Is it wise to negotiate a "take it or leave it" offer? Also, when there is such an offer, do you think that company really looking to hire you? It does not encourage any communication which gives an impression that they do not need you but if you join at their offer, they are okay. To put things in perspective, offer is inline with industry average but slightly lower than what I am making right now.

Can someone just explain how you plan out how much to bill so you can make sure it’s not a mad scramble at the end of year? I’m moving from a firm where I was lacking in any kind of mentorship. Is there just a secret excel spreadsheet that all lawyers have and I just missed the memo???

Not sure if this has been asked before but what are your billable expectations, what year are you, and what size firm are you at?

I have been lurking on fishbowl for a bit and it seems that my billable expectations at my small firm are too high (1850). I don’t hit them but neither does anyone else including senior associates / partners. Anyways, my boss is using that as an excuse to not give me a raise - so any insight you could provide would be helpful!

I am an incoming associate (awaiting bar results). I have already begun working as a law clerk and am already being given plenty of tasks to fill my time, which I’m grateful for. I am also fortunate to be in working in an area of the law that is personally fulfilling to me, so a lot of the work I do doesn’t feel like work. Here’s the thing: I do my absolute best. I give polished, clean work, and I always give my personal best. However, it seems like a lot of the tasks I do always get sent back..

Ethics and Side Hustles: With side hustles for everyone apparently 'a thing' for everyone now, I took a look at content writing on Upwork. Putting aside the employment contract stuff, I am having my doubts about whether lawyers can actually produce content.

For example, there was a job proofreading recipes - would a lawyer be on the hook if an allergen wasn't caught? Likewise, writing informational articles about financial services - could that come back on a lawyer in some way?
