Have a formal offer at Citi for 120K as an AVP in the NY office. Currently making 92K at my current role where I feel there’s not much room to grow anymore. Is this a fair offer? I currently WFH pretty much full time at my current role which has been amazing, but it seems like Citi would require me to be there 2-3 days in the office per week - and this is something I’m very hesitant about. Thoughts on how to approach this?

They do good best practice of modeling and as cutting edge as you can be in risk, which is to be honest a bit behind marketing or fraud or other areas. If you want to do real machine learning go to quantum black sub brand of McKinsey.
If you force it, everything is possible. But it’s not easy. You have to have several more ML studies and then have enough partner push for you to support the transfer.
Basically risk dynamics are statisticians /mathematicians who can program. Quantum black are software engineers mostly who can do solid statistics/ maths.
There are 3 popular lines of service at RD: Model Development, Model Validation and Model Risk Management. Topics can range from credit risk to anti money laundering model (i.e, very broad). Based on the last stat I saw, RD is now more than half of the risk practice (for level below partner) and the main analytics powerhouse of the practice. Ping me if you have any question.
Hello,
From the careers page for Risk Dynamics, it seems to look for candidates who could do sophisticated modeling and make strategic decisions. Do you have some examples on the kind of decisions made by relatively new joiners?
Perfect fit for what you want. Be ready to be tested on both technicals and typical generalist case interviews.
Thank you for your reply. Do you perhaps know what kind of engagements they normally do?
I got invited to apply for a risk analyst job here but I'm not sure if the same interview process applies as to the management consultants in the main McKinsey. Are they looking for similar leadership traits here, or rather for technical capabilities?
