Does anyone practice exposure therapy? I've been thinking about getting certified and am wondering what the process is like. Thanks for any tips or info!

I've been thinking about it as our practice wants to offer it. We have some therapists training for it now, sounds interestig

I do a not-so-intense version of this on some of my clients that do not necessarily have a phobia or chronic disorder but may be very anxious about a certain situation. I have them picture whatever is it they are anxious about actually happening and walk them reacting to it or rationalizing the outcome. Works pretty well, so I can imagine that exposure therapy can be really effective.

Why would you need to get a specific certification for exposure therapy? Isn’t your license enough? Just pick up some books on operant conditioning and look at some journal research articles on exposure therapy for various phobias.

Hello everyone! I recently start working as a paralegal in USA. Managing attorney recently open a new location in another state and only comes back once every 6 to 8 weeks. My title is lead paralegal but I'm pretty much in charge of supervising other paralegals and keeping track of their work. Is this normal is USA?

So I finally got around to watching the Bear. Thoughts? They did get the frantic element right and the little details. But my family at Thanksgiving all seemed to think it was basically a documentary

Additional Posts in Social Workers & Therapists

Did you ever have any issues with your family questioning what you do and saying it wasn't a "real job" ? They think being a social worker is fluffy and I should have just become an "actual doctor or psychiatrist"

So burnt out but no motivation to go back to school anyone else telate

Best way to deal with family members who treat you like the family therapist? Over thanksgiving my aunt disclosed some intense stuff to me and asked me for my help/opinion, and it was uncomfortable. I don't feel good saying just don't talk to me about stuff like that, but I also am not paid to give therapy to my own family and the things they tell me put me in weird situations with other family members. Help!

Anyone here ever struggled working at a private practice during your first year as a licensed counselor? I work well with the clients but I find it difficult to accept the pay I receive for the amount of work I do and is required. Lately, I realize I haven’t been putting in much effort towards paperwork because of the pay I receive.

Hospice Social Worker here in Portland OR.. I took my current position in May at $38 an hour. It's the highest they said they could pay me knowing it's way less than other agencies in our area, but I took it because my caseload is small (part time 3 days a week with about 14 patients). BUT the cost of living keeps getting higher 🥴 What are others making in this field in metro areas?

Have you ever felt uncomfortable treating a patient? I don't feel unsafe, and the patient isn't making me uncomfortable physically or anything, I am just seriously disturbed by the discussions we're having about what they're going through. I've been working at this hospital 4 years and this is the first time this has ever happened. Is it wrong to consider asking for a transfer?

Does anyone have a case they never really felt good about even after it ended? There are a few where I know I did my job correctly and to the letter, but the outcome has never satisfied me or it didn't get solved how I would like it to. Did I do the wrong thing if it's still on my mind years later? How do you know that your choice was the right one when people still got hurt?

I was checking for groups of Autism Therapists ( ABA Therapist) and this was one that I found close to what I was looking for.
I would like to hear if any of you guys know how much an Instructor Therapist with 3-4 years of experience in the field could ask for a position in the Toronto area, Canada.
I would really appreciate it if any of you could provide me with some insight into it!

Hi, does anyone else in Houston, TX with an MSW find it difficult to find a good paying job without the license? If you know of any places hiring only an MSW please point me to them. Currently working on getting my LSW. Thanks in advance!

How do I make the transition from MSW into Human Resources? Anyone with success stories or in Human Resources with feedback thank you.

Any oncology social workers out there in Maryland? Or elsewhere, what’s your salary?

Hello there! I currently work in billing at a medical office. I got my Bachelors in Psychology a few years ago but I couldn’t find a position that seemed like a good option for me that was well paying and fulfilling. I tried working as a tech at an Applied Behavior Analysis clinic but it wasn’t a good fit. I’m hesitant to try case management or social work because I worry I won’t like it but I want to use my degree in Psychology. Does anyone have any ideas for me?

Only have a BSW here in florida, looking for other options. Love the medical field. Currently a case manager at Encompass IRF. Looking for ALF or something similar. Interested in marketing. Any suggestions?

I am sick and tired of mental health professionals getting overworked and underpaid. No other profession I am sure is this horrible!!!

How long have you been in this field, and how has your salary changed over time? I started at 45k and I'm at 80 almost 10 years later.

I am looking for a referral for a remote case management position for Heath First, Humana or Evalance. I have 15 years of experience and I have my LMSW in NY and SC🙏🥰

How many of you have left or are planning to leave therapy, and what did you transition into?

Do you think all these violent and hate filled attacks are because people aren't getting the emotional/mental support they need, whether it's therapy at any age or help they needed but didn't get from a social worker as a child? My coworker is sure this is the case, but I honestly think there's actually something deeper wrong either with how these people are being raised as children, or how the warning signs these people give off are ignored or swept under the rug to save face.
